Olivia McDowall is a graduate intern pursuing her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of North Texas, where she also obtained her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Counseling. Olivia brings experience working with diverse populations, including children, pre-teens, college students, and adults.
Olivia approaches counseling from a holistic and Person-Centered perspective, emphasizing the importance of empathizing with each person’s unique view on life. She believes that the client is the expert on their life, and that with a compassionate approach, they can work together to find healing. Olivia is passionate about helping children and believes that uplifting future generations will help foster a better tomorrow. Through Child-Centered Play Therapy, she believes that play is a child’s natural language, and toys are their words.
She works collaboratively with clients and parents to explore presenting concerns, and by incorporating psychoeducation and a strengths-based approach, Olivia supports clients in developing healthier coping strategies and finding peace.
Olivia works with children and adults seeking to provide a listening ear to those who need support. She brings warmth, compassion, and curiosity to her sessions, helping clients explore new perspectives and approaches to their challenges. She is particularly passionate about supporting individuals navigating anxiety, depression, self-esteem, loneliness, and children who feel misunderstood.
